Sofitel Legend will unveil its first hotel in North and Central America, bringing its quintessential lifestyle to historic Casco Viejo, Panama, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Accor Group brand’s French luxury theme will be evident with the debut of the 159-room Sofitel Legend Casco Viejo Panama in fall 2022.

Restored facade

Overlooking the Pacific Ocean with stunning views of the Panama City skyline, the hotel is located in the heart of Casco Viejo, on the former site of the iconic Club Union of Panama. Sofitel Legend Casco Viejo Panama will carry on the glamorous legacy of yesteryear, honoring the historic and cultural significance of Club Union while embracing modern times.

Behind its restored colonial facade complete with state-of-the-art new construction, the exclusive venue merges legendary history with contemporary splendour. Manuel Choy of Architect SA, one of Panama’s foremost architects specializing in the restoration of buildings in Casco Viejo, has been appointed to lead the project alongside Accor North America’s design and technical services team. and Central.

The French styles of the building’s architecture are carried inside by incorporating luxurious finishes such as the ballroom’s marble checkerboard floors, wrought iron balcony details and brass accents, and contrasted by the use of contemporary Panamanian design elements including local artwork, handmade encaustic. colorful tiles and furnishings inspired by the diversity of flora and fauna found throughout the country.

The spectacular lobby decor visually depicts the history of the Panama Canal and is adorned with nautical design elements, including bespoke sculptures, striking artwork, historic photographs on display, and marine navigational instruments.

Innovative concepts

Facilities and amenities include five food and beverage venues, including a Skybar and lounge; a beachfront swimming pool; and approximately 9,880 square feet of indoor and outdoor flexible event space offering unique and innovative concepts on the market.

A full-service Sofitel spa and Sofitel Fitness exercise studio overlook the ocean, while a Sofitel spa will offer a range of services with treatments inspired by local Panamanian culture, luxurious amenities including a spacious tea room and serene relaxation rooms for in-between care. .
